You do not need to become someone new.
You need space to understand what has been shaping the way you move through your life, reconnect with yourself beneath all the expectations and old beliefs, and learn to trust what you find there.
Over four months, we’ll move through Regulate → Uncover → Embody → Sustain, so you can understand yourself differently, hear yourself more clearly and begin making choices that actually feel like yours.

You probably know you need to rest more. Set better boundaries. Ask for help. Stop taking everything on. Make time for yourself. Maybe meditate, exercise, sleep more, put your phone down and somehow stop caring so much about what everyone else thinks.
Knowing isn’t necessarily the problem.
The problem is what happens when you try to actually do it.
You know you need a boundary, but immediately start worrying about how the other person will feel.
You finally sit down to rest and spend the whole time thinking about everything you should be doing.
You say yes when you wanted to say no, then feel frustrated with yourself afterward.
You ask other people what they think because you’re no longer sure you can trust your own answer.
You keep trying to do everything “right” and somehow still feel like you’re getting it wrong.
After a while, it can start to feel like you’re the problem. Like everyone else knows how to handle their lives and you somehow missed the lesson.
But what if you don’t need another list of things to do better?
What if you need to understand what keeps getting between you and yourself?

You’ve spent years taking in messages about who you should be, what you should want, what makes you a good partner, mother, daughter, friend or employee, and what everyone else needs from you.
Some of those messages came from other people. Some came from experiences you had a long time ago. And some have been repeated so many times that they don’t even sound like outside voices anymore. They just sound true.
So when you’re trying to decide what you need or what to do next, your own answer isn’t the only voice in the room.
There’s guilt. Fear. Expectations. Old beliefs. What someone else might think. Whether they’ll be disappointed. Whether you’re being selfish. Whether you’re doing the “right” thing.
And somewhere in all of that is you.
Sometimes the choice that feels right for you will be saying no. Sometimes it will be saying yes. Sometimes it will mean resting, asking for help or letting something go. And sometimes it will mean doing something difficult because it matters deeply to you.
The goal isn’t to replace everyone else’s rules with a new set of rules from me.
I’m not the expert on your life. You are.
My role is to help you understand what has been getting in the way of hearing yourself, learn to recognize what is actually happening inside you, and practise trusting yourself enough to make choices from there.
That’s what we begin doing together in A Grounded Life.
Not that your life suddenly becomes easy. Not that you never get overwhelmed, question yourself or fall into an old pattern again.
But you can have a very different relationship with yourself when those things happen.
You don’t realize how overwhelmed you are until you’re already in it.List 1
You keep falling into the same patterns without really understanding why.
You know something doesn’t feel right, but question yourself until you’re no longer sure what you think.
Guilt, fear or someone else’s reaction can quickly change a decision that felt right five minutes ago.
You criticize yourself when you struggle or fall back into an old way of doing things.
You look outside yourself for reassurance that you’re making the “right” choice.
Notice what is happening sooner and know what actually helps you come back to yourself.
Recognize your patterns and understand what may be underneath them.
Hear your own thoughts, needs and preferences more clearly without immediately dismissing them.
Notice when guilt, fear or expectations are influencing a choice and decide whether you want them making the decision for you.
Meet yourself with more support when things are hard instead of automatically making yourself the problem.
Trust yourself more, even when you don’t have absolute certainty that you’re making the “right” choice
You’re becoming more able to recognize yourself beneath everything you learned you were supposed to be.
And when you lose that connection, because you will sometimes, you know more about how to find your way back.
There’s a reason we move through A Grounded Life in this order.
It’s hard to understand what is happening underneath your choices when you’re already overwhelmed. And understanding your patterns isn’t enough if nothing changes in the way you actually respond to yourself and move through your life.
So over four months, we build from one thing into the next.
Each month gives us time to learn, explore and actually practise what we’re working on before moving into the next part of the journey.

A Grounded Life combines the structure of the program with live support, space to integrate and individual time with me over four months.
Three modules are released each month, on Sundays during Weeks 1–3, taking you through Regulate, Uncover, Embody and Sustain one step at a time.
We meet once a week during Weeks 1–3 to talk about what you’re learning, explore what is coming up in your actual life, ask questions and work through it together.
The fourth week of every month has no new module and no group call. It’s intentional space to practise, notice and let the work settle before we move forward.
Two 60-minute private sessions with me give us space to focus entirely on you and whatever could use more individual attention during our four months together.
Next cohort: February 2027

I’m Ruth Hirshberg, MSW, RSW, a Registered Social Worker and the creator of Grounding with Ruth.
A Grounded Life comes from both my professional work and my own experience of being a human being trying to figure this stuff out.
I know what it is to understand something intellectually and still struggle to live it. To know I need a boundary and have a hard time setting it. To look outside myself for reassurance when I don’t trust my own answer. To recognize an old pattern and still find myself right back in it.
And I know what it is to slowly learn a different way.
My professional experience has given me ways to understand what is happening underneath our patterns, beliefs and responses. My own life has taught me that understanding them is only part of the work.
The rest happens in ordinary moments. When you notice what is happening a little sooner. When you respond to yourself differently. When you make a choice that feels right and try not to abandon it the second someone else has a reaction. When you lose your footing and learn that you can come back.
A Grounded Life brings those two parts of me together.
We’ll work with nervous system regulation, beliefs and patterns, self-compassion, boundaries, your voice and self-trust. But I won’t be standing on the other side of the work telling you how to get there.
I’m not the expert on your life. You are.
My role is to bring what I know, walk alongside you while you figure out what is true for you, and be your ground while you find more of your own.
A Grounded Life is underway!
I'm planning another cohort for February 2027 and would love to keep you in the loop.
If this experience speaks to you, join the waitlist and you'll be among the first to hear when the next opportunity opens.
The next cohort will be starting February 2027. Join the waitlist to be updated and get first chance to enroll.
Live calls take place once a week during Weeks 1–3 of each month. After enrolment, I’ll send everyone a poll with three daytime options and we’ll choose the time that works best for the group.
The live group calls will be recorded, so if you need to miss one, you’ll be able to watch the recording afterward.
I still encourage you to attend live whenever you can because the conversation, questions and opportunity to work through what is happening for you are an important part of the experience.
There isn’t a set number of hours you need to spend on A Grounded Life each week. You’ll have a module and worksheet during Weeks 1–3, along with the live group call. Some weeks you may spend more time with the material than others.
This isn’t something you need to keep up with perfectly. The point is to work with what we’re exploring in your actual life, not create another thing you’re behind on.
These sessions give us space to focus on you and what is coming up through the program. We might explore something you’ve been noticing, work through a place where you feel stuck, or spend more time with something that needs more individual attention than we can give it during a group call.
No. A Grounded Life is a Grounding with Ruth group program and is not psychotherapy or a substitute for mental health treatment.
I am a Registered Social Worker, but my role within A Grounded Life is separate from psychotherapy.
No. A Grounded Life itself is not psychotherapy and does not come with an RSW receipt for extended-health reimbursement.
Ontario residents who are interested in psychotherapy with me can access that separately through my psychotherapy pathway, where appropriate. Coverage depends on your individual benefits plan.
Yes. You can pay $3,000 CAD plus applicable tax in full or choose four monthly payments of $760 CAD plus applicable tax.
Because A Grounded Life is a small cohort with a maximum of eight participants, your enrolment is non-refundable once purchased. Please make sure the program and scheduled format are a good fit for you before enrolling.
If you choose the four-payment option, you are committing to the full payment plan. Choosing instalments does not make this a month-to-month membership and remaining payments will still be due if you decide not to continue with the program.
You don’t need to know exactly what needs to change or arrive with the right answers.
You can come as you are.
Over these four months, we’ll slow things down enough for you to understand yourself more clearly, practise listening to what is true for you, and build more trust in your ability to find your own way.
I can be your ground while you find more of your own.
If A Grounded Life feels like the place you want to do that, I’d love to have you with us.
